Story
After a psychotic religious killer is captured and sentenced to death, he is instead recruited by the US government and trained to become a professional assassin. He now seeks revenge on all those who participated in sentencing him to death.
Summary
Following his capture and death sentence for religiously motivated murders, psychotic killer John Whitman was secretly recruited by a clandestine US government group. Trained as an assassin, Whitman escaped his handlers, bent on vengeance against those who had condemned him: the jury, judge, and district attorney, the latter being Morrell's former wife. Inspector Morrell, a former seminarian whose religious knowledge led to Whitman's initial capture, is skeptical when murders matching Whitman's M.O. resurface post his supposed death. A man posing as an FBI agent claims they're seeking a copycat, but Morrell remains unconvinced, believing only Whitman could orchestrate such precise, chillingly familiar killings.
