Story
In 1925, Gabriela, a poor, uneducated, yet charming woman becomes cook, mistress, and then wife of Nacib, a bar owner in Ilhéus, a small Brazilian coastal town run by the local colonels.
Summary
In 1925 Ilhéus, a quaint coastal town governed by powerful colonels, Gabriela, an uneducated yet captivating woman, becomes cook and lover to Nacib, a charismatic bar owner played by Marcello Mastroianni. Their passionate affair blossoms as Gabriela's sensuality enchants Nacib, but his jealousy grows with the attention she garners.
