Story
Dashing through the streets of Venice, slipping from the clutches of the law, darting across Europe in search of new challenges, Giacomo Casanova races through life with irrepressible energy. Violinist, writer, soldier, spy, gambler, adventurer - it is as a lover that he unbridles the full force of his energy. A charmer and seducer, he, too, is charmed by the beauty of women, seduced by their passion, intrigued by their mystery.
Summary
In Venice's cobblestone streets, Giacomo Casanova dashes past pursuers, his heart pounding like the rhythm of his beloved violin. He is a man of many faces - gambler, adventurer, spy - yet it's as a lover that he truly comes alive. Charmer, seducer, Casanova is equally captivated by women's beauty and mystique. Raised amidst theater's magic and artifice, he rises through Venetian society under the French ambassador's patronage. Yet betrayal lands him in prison for fifteen months; upon escaping, he flees to Paris, where he enchants Louis XV's mistress, Madame de Pompadour.
