Story
Bernard (Gerard Depardieu), a French doctor, kills his wife after discovering her affair and also shoots her lover before joining the Foreign Legion to escape punishment. Onboard a plane destined for Africa, Bernard's journey takes an unexpected turn when it crashes. Before this fateful event, Rossi, a fellow passenger with illegal cash, attempts to kill Bernard but leaves him alive amidst the wreckage. Bernard is rescued by local villagers who nurse him back to health. In Africa, Bernard manages to secure a fortune and even obtains a French passport from a deceased man. His past catches up with him when he returns to France.
