Story
Musical prodigy, Sparkle struggles to become a star while overcoming issues that are tearing her family apart. From an affluent Detroit area and daughter to a single mother, she tries to balance a new romance with music manager Stix while dealing with the unexpected challenges her new life will bring as she and her two sisters strive to become a dynamic singing group during the Motown-era.
Summary
"In affluent Detroit of the Motown era, musical prodigy Sparkle navigates her dreams against family turmoil. Daughter to a single mother and former entertainer Emma, Sparkle's fears stem from her mom's past heartaches in show business, prohibiting public performances outside church. Yet, when Sparkle's sister Sister performs one of her songs at a talent show, their potential stardom ignites ambition in both sisters and a newcomer, Dolores. Manager Stix sees their trio's dynamic potential, but as they gain audience traction, family rifts widen, Sister's abusive relationship with a comedian threatens stability, and Sparkle grapples with blossoming love for Stix."
