Robbie, a wealthy man played by Paolo Villaggio, takes a holiday with his wife Magda. Despite Robbie's hatred for sea travel and Magda's fear of heights, they decide to go by ferry. During an emergency drill on board, Robbie mistakes it for a real crisis and accidentally causes the ship to sink. He wakes up alone on a deserted island after being the only person left aboard the sinking ship. Robbie must survive and adapt to his new Robinson Crusoe-like existence until he is rescued. He eventually meets a girl named Friday (Venerdí), and they form an unlikely bond.
Il signor Robinson, mostruosa storia d'amore e d'avventure (1976) is an Italian adventure comedy directed by Sergio Corbucci. Based on Paolo Villaggio's Fantozzi series but featuring a more mature version of the character, Robbie, the film follows his misadventures at sea and subsequent survival on a deserted island after he unwittingly causes the sinking of their ferry. Robbie's comedic attempts to survive and thrive on the island, alongside meeting Friday, make up the core of this humorous take on the classic Robinson Crusoe tale.
