Sonya Walger was born on June 6, 1974, in Hampstead, London, England. Born with the name Sonya Walger, she is a British-American actress who has built a prolific career across television and film. Educated at Wycombe Abbey School and Christ Church, Oxford, where she earned a first-class degree in English Literature, Walger is also fluent in Spanish due to her Argentinian heritage.
She first gained significant recognition for her role as Donna Barnes in the HBO comedy The Mind of the Married Man (2001) before becoming a household name as Penelope "Penny" Widmore on the cult hit series Lost. In 2007, she took on a leading role in the provocative HBO drama Tell Me You Love Me, portraying Carolyn, a woman navigating complex intimacy issues within her marriage.
Her extensive television credits also include starring roles in FlashForward, The Catch, and her acclaimed performance as Molly Cobb in the Apple TV+ series For All Mankind. Story
Tell Me You Love Me follows three couples seeking help from therapist May Foster for their intimacy issues.
