Story

La Piscine begins with lovers Marianne and Jean-Paul spending their vacation in a villa near St.-Tropez. The villa's swimming pool becomes the central setting for much of the film's action. When Marianne invites her former lover Harry and his teenage daughter Penelope to stay, tension begins to rise among the adults. Jean-Paul becomes increasingly jealous as he grows attracted to Penelope, leading him to seduce her. This act sets off a chain of events with deadly consequences.

Summary

La Piscine is a 1969 French drama-romance film directed by Jacques Deray. Set in the glamorous backdrop of St.-Tropez, the film centers around a love rectangle involving Marianne, Jean-Paul, Marianne's former lover Harry, and his teenage daughter Penelope. The story explores themes of jealousy, betrayal, and the dangerous games people play with each other. The villa's swimming pool serves as both a literal and metaphorical focal point for these tensions to boil over.
