Born on February 13, 1962, in Iisalmi, Finland, Eppu Nuotio (born Eija-Riitta Silvennoinen) is a highly versatile Finnish author, actor, and playwright. She first gained national recognition as an actress, most notably for her role as Kotilainen in Rauni Mollberg's 1985 cinematic adaptation of the war epic The Unknown Soldier (Tuntematon sotilas). Her early acting career also included roles in Finnish TV series such as Tuliportaat and Sisaret.
Over the decades, Nuotio has transitioned into one of Finland’s most prolific and beloved literary figures. Her extensive bibliography spans over 100 works, including children's fiction, crime novels, and television scripts. She is particularly well-regarded for her cozy mystery series, such as the Ellen Lähde Investigates books, and her popular Pii Marin thrillers, which have earned comparisons to top Scandinavian crime writers.
Beyond her individual success, she often collaborates with other artists and has received numerous accolades for her contributions to Finnish children's literature, including the Kaarina Helakisa Prize.
