Jenna Lee Dewan, born December 3, 1980, is an American actress and dancer. She started her career as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson, later working with artists like Christina Aguilera and Pink. Dewan gained prominence for her role in Step Up (2006). She has appeared in various TV series including The Playboy Club, American Horror Story: Asylum, Witches of East End, Supergirl, Soundtrack, and currently stars in The Rookie. Dewan was born in Hartford, Connecticut to Nancy Bursch Smith and Darryll Dewan. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mother remarried Claude Brooks Smith. During high school at Grapevine High School in Texas, she was a varsity cheerleader and prom queen. Dewan attended University of Southern California as a Pi Beta Phi sorority member.
